The International (2009) - FILM

Director Tom Tyker collects a paycheck. The concept of banks controlling everything should be engaging material, but it's dull going in this workman like effort. The stylistic visual flourishes Tyker showed off in HEAVEN, THE PRINCESS AND THE WARRIOR and RUN LOLA RUN are here completely absent. He showed up on the day, put the camera on a tripod and pointed it at whoever was talking. Clive Own sleepwalks through the role and everyone goes through the motions with an eye on the clock as it ticks towards quitting time. There's one incredible action scene half-way through but it feels out of place in the dreck that surrounds it. One solid action scene just isn't enough to warrant a watch.
